This is the very rare and almost pricesless Siam Rosewood, sometimes
also called "Flamewood". A recent survey showed that there were fewer
than 100,000 trees remaining in their natural habitat in Thailand. The picture shows the largest remaining Siam Rosewood tree near the Cambodia border being guarded 24 hours a day by a platoon of soldiers.

The logs, lumber, and veneer of this species is protected under CITES (the seeds and seedlings are not subject
to CITES regulations) CITES is the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. This has driven the market price of quality wood up to astronomical
levels. China buyers will regularly pay $20,000 per cubic meter, up to
$50,00 per cubic meter for the highest quality wood.
At those prices, the illegal cutting will be difficult to stop, until there are no trees left. Please plan accordingly.
Dalbergia cochinchinensis is a large tropical evergreen tree
species, reaching from 25–30 m in stature and producing boles to 60 cm
in dbh. The species is easily recognized by its light yellow bark and
ramified canopies.
Its wood is hard, durable, and red coloured
with prominent, beautiful veins. It is the source of the highly valued
"Cochichin burl". It exhibits a density of 1.0-1.8 and is resistant to
termites.
The tree is identified by its pinnate leaves, which generally have 7 – 9 leaflets, the upper-most of which is the largest.
The species regenerates naturally and coppices well, but the growth rate is rather slow.
It is hard to guarantee absolute germination results, but
We will guarantee that you will get at least FIVE seedlings from 10 seeds or we will send more. Order with CONFIDENCE.
